Meet Zaraq Khan, MBBS, MCR, FACOG, a double board certified OBGYN and Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility specialist.
Since joining ASRM as a first-year intern for research opportunities and networking, Dr. Kahn has been a member of the ASRM Endometriosis Special Interest Group( EndoSIG), and currently serves on the ASRM Global Health Committee, as a Board Member at Large for the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), and as the SRS board representative for the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (SREI). He finds connection to be a key benefit of ASRM membership. From his first star-struck experience at the ASRM Scientific Congress & Expo in 2008 to more recent teaching and leadership positions, Dr. Kahn continues to build his network and engage in the reproductive medicine community with ASRM.
He has two pieces of advice for those early in their careers:
Follow your true passion, even if it calls for a slight deviation of traditional pathways of training.
Network, contribute and give back.
It is a simple life cycle.
He finds ASRM to be critical in difficult times, like the COVID-19 Pandemic and the ongoing legislative issues pertaining to fertility care and reproductive freedom, and also highlights that the society helps ensure quality care is provided throughout the country via practice and ethics guidelines. In 2024, he is excited for our emphasis on DEI and global health, as well as the upcoming educational opportunities at Congress, via webinars, and beyond.
Dr. Khan completed a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship in Europe and has ABOG Certified Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery. He completed an NIH funded masters in clinical research and was awarded the prestigious Mayo Clinic Scholar award which allowed him to complete a second travelling fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery/ Reproductive Organ Transplantation and Endometriosis Excision Surgery, working in Germany at Kiel School of Endoscopy, Switzerland at Kantosspital Aarau, Atlanta at the Center of Endometriosis Care, and Ohio at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Dr. Khan works full-time as a reproductive surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, with a practice focus on patients with infertility and advanced endometriosis, fibroids, adenomyosis, complex Müllerian anomalies and tubal disease. His passion lies in helping women with advanced endometriosis who are eagerly seeking fertility.
